Biography

Rafael E. Lázaro is a founding member of Lázaro Law Group, LLC.  With a particular emphasis on sexual harassment, Mr. Lázaro has dedicated his career to improving the workplace. 

 

Mr. Lázaro regularly litigates before Illinois, Puerto Rico, and United States courts in all aspects of employment law as well as suits under sections 1983 and 1981. 


Prior to establishing Lázaro Law Group, Mr. Lázaro was an attorney at Seyfarth Shaw LLP where he represented fortune 100 companies and at Stowell & Friedman Ltd., a nationally recognized employee class action boutique law firm.


Mr. Lázaro has advised hundreds of senior managers faced with difficult employment situations. He prides himself in finding practical solutions to the most challenging of situations and regularly obtains significant outcomes for individuals prior to litigation.  When litigation ensues, Mr. Lázaro is known as a tenacious, detailed oriented advocate who obtains results.

 

Mr. Lázaro frequently travels throughout the continental United States and beyond to train human resources personnel as well as managers and supervisor in such topics as sexual harassment, retaliation, disability and leave law, and the implementation of effective tools to manage employee performance. Some of the companies he has trained include the Boeing Company, COSTCO, McDonald’s Co., and Walgreens Co., among others.  Mr. Lázaro is also a frequent speaker on employment related topics. He has lectured on a wide range of topics including Social Networking in the Workplace, the effects of medical marijuana on leave and accommodation issues, and Strategies for Reclassifying Previously Misclassified Employees.  These topics are incorporated into his training sessions. 

      

Mr. Lázaro is a graduate of Cornell Law School and Cornell University.  After graduating law school, he served as a law clerk for the Honorable Juan Pérez-Giménez of the United States District Court for the District of Puerto Rico.  

 

 Mr. Lázaro is licensed to practice in the Courts of Illinois and the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico.  He lives with his wife Marie and his two children Lucas and Lara in Evanston, Illinois.
